<p>Students learn at different rates and retain what they learned at different levels. Extended School Year (ESY) is special education and/or related services that are provided beyond the normal school year.</p>

<h3>Summer Activities for Children with Learning Disabilities</h3>
<p>When summer vacation arrives, parents are faced with selecting meaningful activities for their child with learning disabilities. Many parents see summer as a time for catching up on academic skills through tutoring, summer school, or one on one instruction with parents.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thank you so much to all of you who helped to make the Oklahoma Parents Center’s 6th Annual Conference, “Building Relationships…Creating Successful Change,” in Midwest City, Oklahoma on March 2, 2012, a huge success.  What a wonderful day!  Over 175 were in attendance, including parents, educators, administrators, and professionals.  Thanks to all of you who attended. <strong><a href="http://oklahomaparentscenter.org/category/events/">For conference material click here. </a></strong></p>
<p>Please email us at info @oklahomaparentscenter.org  to share your thoughts on the Conference.  We want to hear your favorite parts of the day, speakers you enjoyed, and what you heard that might make a difference in your life and the life of your child.  If there is something else you would like to learn about, let us know that as well.</p>

It is important to make sure that your contact information is up to date with DDSD so you won’t miss your opportunity [...]]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Developmental Disability Services Division of DHS (DDSD) plans to reduce the waiting list by 600 people a year for the next 7 years.  There are over 6000 people on the waiting list.</p>
<p>It is important to make sure that your contact information is up to date with DDSD so you won’t miss your opportunity for services when your turn comes up.</p>
<p>If you name comes up and DDSD tries to contact you and they don’t have the correct contact information, they will move on to the next person and you will have to reapply for the services all over again.</p>
<p>Don’t wait; make sure your contact information is up to date!</p>
