Amber Davis, DSc, MS, OTR/L is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). As an occupational therapist for the past 22 years, Amber has worked in a variety of settings, including home health, acute care, in- and out-patient rehabilitation, and hospice. Prior to joining the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at OUHSC, she worked in a suburban public school serving students ages 3-21 years with a wide range of disabilities.

As a part of OUHSC’s Lee Mitchener Tolbert Center for Developmental Disabilities and the Oklahoma Autism Network, Amber works to provide information, education, training, and support to Oklahomans across the state who have disabilities, as well as families, school staff and community members who support individuals with disabilities.

Amber also serves as a clinical instructor in iLeap, OUHSC’s preschool for children with communication delays or autism, collaborating with the Speech-Language Pathology department to incorporate occupational therapy and OT students into the preschool programming. The iLeap program provides the opportunity to mentor students in practical training, inclusion, and interprofessional collaboration. Additionally, Amber teaches courses on assistive technology and guest lectures throughout the OT curriculum.

Amber’s areas of interest include autism spectrum disorders, school-based practice, and inclusion of children with disabilities across the school environment, parent advocacy and training, mentorship, dysgraphia, assistive technology, and supporting children with high-intensity needs in the school and community. As both an instructor and an occupational therapist, Amber’s focus is on advocating for the inclusion of all children in all environments, with the supports needed for maximum participation.
