Mary Helen Holguin

Biography

Mary Helen Holguin is originally from New Mexico and received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Western New Mexico University in 1976. Mary Helen spent 14 years teaching in the K-12 environment in public schools in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, where taught Elementary, ESL K-8, and High School Spanish. She took a break from teaching and became the office manager of a Chiropractic office for almost 20 years.

Her next position was with St. Philip’s College Nursing Department, where she was an instructional specialist, assisting with testing, remediation, study skills and time management strategies. Her role within the Allied Health Division grew as more was needed. While at St. Philip’s Mrs. Holguin was recognized twice as Employee of the Month. She retired from St. Philip’s college January of 2021, and has now been working for OPC for 3 years as our Multicultural Specialist, where she translates documents for and conversations with our Spanish-speaking families. Mary Helen has 5 children and 6 grandchildren that she is very proud of and adores.
