OKMTSS

The OKMTSS framework outlines a three-tiered system of support:

  • Tier 1 — Universal, school-wide supports for all students;

  • Tier 2 — Targeted interventions for small groups;

  • Tier 3 — Intensive interventions for individual students.

Key components emphasized within Oklahoma’s MTSS approach include: Sustainable Teaming, where collaborative teams work together to build capacity and meet student needs; Evidence-Based Practices, which are instructional and intervention strategies proven effective; Data-Driven Decisions, using multiple sources of data to determine needs and evaluate intervention effectiveness.

The OKMTSS framework is intended to ensure that schools respond quickly and systematically to both academic and behavioral challenges, providing the right level of instructional support for students based on ongoing data.

Professional development, such as the SPDG MTSS Implementation Course, supports educators in understanding and implementing these components within a continuous improvement model.

Fact Sheets

OPC and OKSPDG have partnered to create a series of easy-to-use fact sheets to help families and educators better understand Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). These resources provide quick, practical information for parents and educators who are new to special education.
